Step 1

Create Your Free Account

Every epic journey starts with a single click. Setting up your FictionForge account takes less than 60 seconds — and you don't need a credit card to begin.

  • Visit fictionforge.pro and click Start Writing Free.
  • Sign up with your email address, Google account, or Apple ID — whatever's fastest for you.
  • Choose your Free plan (5,000 words/month included) or start a 14-day free trial on Writer or Author plans.
  • Complete the quick onboarding wizard — it asks about your writing experience, favorite genres, and goals so the AI can personalize your experience.
  • That's it. You're now an Apprentice Writer — your first achievement badge is already earned.

Once inside, you'll see your personal dashboard: a clean interface with your current level, XP bar, active story projects, and daily goal tracker. Everything you need is one click away.

🌍
Step 2

Set Up Your Story World

This is where your imagination meets structure. FictionForge's Story Setup wizard walks you through creating your novel's foundation — genre, title, and world — in just a few minutes.

  • From your dashboard, click + New Story. A modal guides you through the essentials.
  • Pick your genre: Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Romance, Thriller, Horror, Historical Fiction, LitRPG, or Literary Fiction. The AI tailors its suggestions to your chosen genre's conventions and tropes.
  • Give your story a working title — don't stress about perfection, you can change it later. The AI can even help you brainstorm title ideas based on your genre and themes.
  • Set up your Story World: The World Builder tool lets you define key lore, magic systems (for fantasy), tech levels (for sci-fi), factions, geography, and timelines. The AI can generate initial lore entries based on a few keywords you provide.
  • Add your main characters — name, role, personality traits, and backstory. The Character Builder tracks relationships, arcs, and flags inconsistencies as you write.
  • Choose a pacing style: Fast-paced (action-heavy), Balanced, or Slow-burn (character-driven). This influences how the AI suggests scene structure.

By the end of Step 2, you'll have a fully outlined story skeleton — characters, world, and narrative direction ready to go. No more staring at a blank page wondering where to start.

🤖
Step 3

Meet Your AI Co-Writer

Your AI co-writer isn't a generic chatbot — it's a context-aware writing partner that has already read your genre selection, world lore, and character profiles. It understands your story before you type a single word of prose.

  • Open the Editor — a distraction-free writing space with the AI panel docked to the side.
  • The AI offers three modes: Continue (suggests the next paragraph), Rewrite (polishes selected text), and Brainstorm (generates ideas, dialogue, or descriptions on demand).
  • Use the Style Dial to adjust the AI's output: more descriptive, more dialogue-heavy, faster pacing, or more literary — it adapts in real time.
  • The more you write, the better the AI learns your voice. It picks up on your vocabulary preferences, sentence rhythm, and character speech patterns.
  • You're always in control. The AI suggests — you decide what stays. Every word in your novel is yours.

Think of it as having a seasoned co-author who never gets tired, never judges your first draft, and always has a thousand ideas ready when you need inspiration.

✍️
Step 4

Start Writing Your First Chapter

This is the moment you've been waiting for. With your story world set up and your AI co-writer ready, it's time to write — and FictionForge makes sure you never hit a dead end.

  • Start with a Chapter Goal: What needs to happen in this chapter? Introduce the protagonist? Reveal a conflict? The AI uses your goal to generate relevant opening lines.
  • If you have a Plot Outline ready, the AI follows it. If you're a discovery writer ("pantser"), just start typing and the AI will suggest continuations that match your natural flow.
  • Stuck on a sentence? Highlight it and click Rewrite — the AI offers 3–5 alternative phrasings while preserving your intended meaning and tone.
  • Need to expand a scene? The Expand command adds descriptive detail, dialogue, or internal monologue — whichever your scene needs most.
  • Each completed chapter unlocks a Chapter Complete achievement and awards a burst of XP. Your progress bar visibly fills as you approach the next level.

Pro tip: Don't edit while you draft. FictionForge's Draft Mode hides the AI suggestions panel during your flow state and lets you review everything in a separate pass. The first draft is about getting words on the page.

Step 5

Level Up with XP & Achievements

Writing isn't just creative — it's a progression system. FictionForge rewards every action with XP, helping you stay motivated by celebrating the small wins that add up to a finished novel.

  • Earn XP for: writing words, editing, completing chapters, hitting daily goals, maintaining streaks, and exploring new features.
  • Rise through 20 levels: Novice (1) → Apprentice (2–5) → Journeyman (6–8) → Artisan (9–10) → Master (11–13) → Grandmaster (14–15) → Legend (16–18) → Mythic (19–20).
  • Each level unlocks something new: World Builder at Level 6, Style Analyzer at Level 10, Advanced Export Options at Level 14, and exclusive cosmetic badges at milestone levels.
  • Earn achievement badges for specific milestones: 1K Words in a Day, 7-Day Streak, First Chapter Done, First Novel Complete, Genre Master, and 50+ more.
  • Your profile page displays your level, XP progress, badge collection, and stats — share it with friends or keep it as your personal trophy wall.

The level system turns the long process of novel writing into a series of short, satisfying goals. Instead of focusing on "finish a 80,000-word novel," you focus on "hit Level 5 today" — and the novel writes itself.

🔥
Step 6

Stay Consistent with Streaks & Goals

Consistency is the secret ingredient of every published author. It's not about writing 5,000 words in one day — it's about writing 500 words every day. FictionForge's streak and goal system makes habit-building addictive.

  • Set a daily word goal — most writers start with 300–500 words. You can adjust it up or down anytime based on your schedule.
  • Every day you hit your goal, your writing streak grows. Streaks are tracked by day, not calendar — miss a day and you lose the streak (unless you have a Streak Freeze item earned at Level 8).
  • Streak milestones trigger bonus XP: 3 days (2x XP), 7 days (5x XP), 30 days (10x XP), and 100 days (Mythic Streak badge + special reward).
  • The Daily Planner helps you schedule writing sessions. Set preferred writing times and FictionForge sends you gentle reminders — never nagging, always encouraging.
  • Join Writing Circles — small groups of writers at similar levels. Share progress, cheer each other on, and earn group streak bonuses.

Writing a novel is a marathon, not a sprint. FictionForge gives you the training plan, the pace tracker, and the crowd cheering you on. All you have to do is show up.

📤
Step 7

Finish Your Novel & Export

You wrote the final chapter. Your level is climbing. Your badge collection is growing. Now comes the most rewarding part: turning your manuscript into a real book. FictionForge makes export seamless.

  • Before export, run the Final Polish — an AI-powered consistency check that scans for plot holes, timeline errors, character name inconsistencies, and pacing issues across your entire manuscript.
  • Use the Style Analyzer for a comprehensive readability report: sentence length variation, dialogue-to-narration ratio, adverb density, and genre alignment score.
  • Click Export and choose your format: EPUB (best for Amazon KDP, Apple Books, and most retailers), PDF (for print-ready proofs and personal archiving), MOBI (legacy Kindle), or DOCX (for your editor or proofreader).
  • Customize formatting: choose your trim size (6×9, 5.5×8.5, etc.), font, line spacing, chapter heading style, and whether to include a table of contents.
  • Your exported file is retailer-ready — compliant with Amazon KDP, Draft2Digital, Smashwords, and IngramSpark requirements. No manual reformatting needed.

Completing your novel triggers the ultimate achievement: Novelist badge, a massive XP reward, and a permanent spot on the FictionForge Hall of Fame. You wrote a book. You leveled up. You forged something real.
